White Swan -b-que Chicken - Smithfield

So happy we decided to stop and try this charming family restaurant. I ordered the grill chicken with roasted greens and cooked potatoes and enjoyed every bite. The lush puppies that come with the meal are also delicious! The grill sauce is brownish and slightly sweet with a touch of heat. The iced tea is freshly brewed and goes perfectly with the aromas. My family also loved Thier Food. Everyone carved around the Mac and the cheese and the Cole. I am so happy that I found this little jewel with homemade tasting food and friendly service. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

I had heard great things about this restaurant, so my husband and I decided to check it out for ourselves. Unfortunately, both the customer service and the food fell short of our expectations. The food was quite unappetizing. The only highlights of our visit were the Hushpuppies and the enjoyable conversation with the couple at the next table. Aside from that, we ended up spending over $30 for a meal that was rather bland.

I've always loved White Swan, but I'm quite disappointed with the change they've made to their slaw. I don't understand why they've switched from the finely chopped, sweet slaw they used to serve. Now it feels like I'm eating a bland salad without any mayo or sugar—it's dry and lacks flavor. I really wish they would go back to the old-fashioned slaw that was so delicious. I've noticed that Cricket in Smithfield sells the same great slaw that White Swan used to offer for their hot dogs and hamburgers, so I hope they return to that style. The current slaw just doesn't do justice to what I believe is the best BBQ around.

The food is excellent! I went with my neighbor and ordered a family meal. We chose the tailgate platter, which is huge and easily enough for two meals. However, the server informed me that I couldn't order it and dine in the restaurant because the manager wouldn't allow it. I refused to order a separate meal and told my neighbor and the server to prepare just my order. Unfortunately, I had to wait until my neighbor was nearly done with his meal before they started on mine. We both found that quite ridiculous.

The food was excellent ? and the service was great ?? will definitely be going back .
