I spend alot of time working in smithers and up until now the Alpenhorn has been one of my favorite places to frequent. Food is always delicious and on time. Today I ordered potatoe skin appetizer with my meal and asked for extra BBQ sauce. I picked up my meal and drove back to my travel trailer outside of town only to discover my potatoe skins were undercooked and completely lacking any sauce besides the small amount BBQ flavored juice attached to the pulled pork. Now normally I wouldnt write a review like this, but when I called to inform them that the Appy I recieved was very disappointing i was just told thank you for the information. No offer to remake the meal or anything. I would have settled for even some small discount off one future appetizer. The cost of eating out is getting higher and higher, restaurants are requesting higher tips than before. I don't feel it's wrong to expect compensation for an awful appetizer when I paid almost $20 for it. Rating 3 stars because previous visits have been very pleasant, but I won't be returning for quite a while
Food was greasy, the hamburger we had was full of fillers, and greasy. The salad I had with in house dressing was good. The service was so so, the waitress acted like she wanted to be anywhere but there working. The price of the food...and what you get is ridiculous. Very disappointed in the meal here. Nice place. I guess it is trendy, and people do buy into that, good or bad. I would not return. As we left and got down the street a ways, we seen a nice pub with people sitting outside, enjoying themselves and food. Terribly overpriced. Also asked for extra dressing, and they charged me for it!!!!!!!! Really??????
After a lengthy bus journey from Prince George, we arrived in Smithers, BC. The menu at the restaurant offered a wide range of options that would please everyone. I chose the gluten-free braised beef sandwich, served with au jus for dipping. The beef was incredibly tender and I particularly enjoyed the caramelized onions and mushrooms. Each sandwich came with the choice of fries or salad, and I went for the Moosetrax waffle fries, which had a nice kick to them. The portion size was generous and I had no complaints. The seared tuna salad also looked appetizing. The interior decor of the restaurant was unique and created a laid-back atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. If I ever find myself in Smithers again, I would definitely return to this restaurant.
As always, we found this place on Yelp! My SO was looking forward to eating fresh seafood. We walked in and were told to seat ourselves. They have a nice outdoor seating area and it was a beautiful July day! I ordered the French onion soup and the sriracha chicken sandwich and my SO got the salmon burger. The onion soup was amazing! So tasty. The sriracha chicken sandwich didn't have much sriracha taste to it. My SO said the salmon burger was good but not great. The ambiance of this place was great. Service and food were good.
