Heritage By Matt Gillan - Slaugham

I want to extend a special thanks to Kit, our wine steward. Her knowledgeable and enthusiastic presentation of the wines and pairing with the food was outstanding. When we were asked which dish we liked best, I honestly couldn't choose a favorite. However, I can confidently say that there were three ladies in our group who typically avoid oysters, and the tempura oyster changed their minds entirely—it was simply stunning. Thank you for a wonderful experience; I eagerly look forward to my next visit!

I visited for lunch with my wife to celebrate her birthday. We sampled five incredible dishes that were absolutely delicious. The chef is exceptionally talented, and the staff are all warm and welcoming. The venue itself is beautiful, complete with a cozy roaring fire. I highly recommend arriving early for a drink before your meal, and it's a nice option to stay for a drink afterward as well. The quality of the food is outstanding, especially considering the price. It’s a fantastic choice for a romantic dinner or even a business lunch. I definitely plan to return to try the seven-course meal; I’m not sure I could manage the nine courses, but it would be great to attempt it. The restaurant is conveniently located with good access from the M25, A23, and the surrounding Haywards Heath area. It’s situated in a lovely spot, with nice walking paths in spring, summer, and autumn (though in winter, I’d much prefer to relax by their inviting fireplace).

We enjoyed a fantastic meal at this restaurant, delivered with an authentic smile. The food was delightful, fulfilling, and adventurous without being odd or overly extravagant. It was truly excellent.

I’ve been lucky enough to have had some great meals at great restaurants this wasn’t one of them. Leaking urinals (and therefore smelly toilet), dirty menus, not enough wine menus for every table and food disappointing, especially the super thick honeycomb dome on the desert that I had to “hammer through”. Oh and white wine served too warm. Not priced suitably for the quality.

We've just had the most fantastic food at Heritage. Matt has upped his game again. Usually, there is one dodgy dish on a tasting menu. But not this one. Each dish improved on the last. The crab was delicious, then the prawn, which was then beaten by the Pidgeon, and still the dishes kept coming and culminated in the pea pudding... Such is a revelation. The wine/cocktail pairing was also so complimentary of the food. Well done to the whole team. Who had it bad today, with the power cut threatening to close the restaurant entirely!
