On the square of Sivas, a beautiful village in Messara, there's this little gastronomic treasure called Taverna Sactouris and Sofia, where you can find fantastic tastes, fresh ingredients (I can tell because I have Cretan origins and I know how fresh Cretan veggies and meat taste), big portions, traditional recipes from the grandmother of the family, and modern ones from their chef, fast and friendly service!We chose Sactouris taverna every day for a whole week and never wanted to go anywhere else for our dinner. We tasted 80% of their dishes and we found them all delicious and very light! Thank you Sactouris family for the great experience you always offered us!

We stayed in the beautiful village of Sivas for 1 week and could not help ourselves to eat at Taverna Sofia Sactouris every day. Trust me, we tried another village, with different foods. Nothing beats the grandparents' recipes of Sofia's family, the hospitality of the team that is Sofia, her offspring and the sweet mum. Try Sactouris salad, and then one of the daily dishes or recommendations. Say hello to Elizabeth for me!!

From 9 nights we spent 5 here. A warm atmosphere, delicious food in the midst of a traditional Cretan village square. The tavern is guided with a lot of heart blood and love from Sofia! The house salad, the kids, the lamb, the piquant chicken.... everything is recommended without exception!
