Syraka Sicilian - SIRACUSA

I have never left a review of a restaurant before in my life but we had a very disappointing dinner at Syraka. Service was fine and attentive but there were only 3 other people in the restaurant the entire time we were there. Should have noticed an empty restaurant when we arrived and looked elsewhere. Restaurant looked nice and we felt comfortable and relaxed there. Appetizers were fine but first courses were bland and underwhelming. 3 specials ordered: pasta with sea urchins, fried fish with peppers, and pasta with eggplant and ricotta. Sea urchin pasta just tasted like oil with no seasoning, fish seemed boiled and not crispy at all and the peppers just seemed to be steamed with no seasoning (reminded me of frozen vegetables that were too soft and tasted like water), pasta with eggplant and ricotta was average. Tried to finish to be polite but it wasn’t possible. First night ever in Syracuse and Sicily overall and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully the city has more to offer.

Overpriced. Please avoid this place. There was only two customers when we arrived and we should’ve knew better. The interior seemed nice but there were water damage here and there. It’s very stuffy inside and minimal AC was provided. There were loud noises coming from some appliances and this high frequency noise that just comes and goes throughout the entire time of dining. The host convinced us to get this appetizer which was 4 little fried balls with shrimp inside. It smelled horrible, as if it was fermented and charged €12. When we asked which seafood was the fresh caught of the day, there was only one fish that was fresh. The Vongole pasta was watery and had no flavor, even served with dead clams that remained shut.

Siamo stati accolti dalla gentile signora, ci ha fatto accomodare e poco dopo è riapparsa con bevande, porzioni adeguate, pasta al dente e ben condita, prezzo onesto. Non si può chiedere di più e non si può dare meno di cinque stelle.

Grande tutto....servizio cibo e vino sublime...bella sorpresa camminando per ortigia.. per tornare!

Un buon posto per cenare in ortigia, meno affollato di molti altri. attenzione al cliente e buona qualità. prezzi onesti un po' alti, soprattutto sul vino.
