Dinner with my wife, private context and intimate atmosphere was What I was looking for, in addition to the baroque context that is really suggestive. Searched dishes and excellent raw material!

My wife and I had dinner here one evening. Reservations are necessary because the restaurant is very small. Food was good, but the menu is quite limited due to the size of the restaurant.

Our first night in Ortigia and chanced upon this restaurant. Not particularly busy, which eventually surprised us (it should be). Charming 'front of house ' who presented us with an 'amuse bouche ' of Aranchini. Have had enough of these to know they are usually on a spectrum of interesting to very ordinary. This was a wonderful example with squid-ink rice and ricotta in a light crisp ball of flavour. Followed this with a Primi Platti of pasta and tuna, but what set this apart was the subtle use of fresh herbs that lifted this dish to another level. For our Secondi Platti my wife had a prawn dish and I had pan fried ombrini fish; both delicious. We washed this down with a delicious but reasonably priced Etna white wine. The restaurant is next to the competitive area of Via della Maestranza which may explain why it is not always full. It should be.

My wife and I just had a delicious lunch at Bella Vita today. A lot of attention to details. Surprises from the chef, even though we only had two dishes (pasta and dessert). A beautiful and relax atmosphere, a bit away from the affluence. As guests, we felt welcome and even celebrated!
