So taking a public transport may make more sense. The place is nicely decorated, clean and efficient. The dishes that we ordered were served orderly and fast. Staff are helpful and polite as well. The food I must say is very good. Typically some of the dishes that we ordered are suppose to be oily and salty. Here they 'customized ' it to suit our taste but still retain the feel and texture of the original. Thumbs up. Highly recommended!!!
I recently tried Sichuan cuisine for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! Overall, all the dishes we ordered were delicious and flavorful, although some were similar in taste. My favorite dishes were the Pork Belly with Garlic, Fried Eggplant, Dumplings (not pictured), and Green Pepper Fish Soup. While I've had better 辣子鸡 at other places, I still enjoyed everything we tried. The service was great and there are many more dishes on the menu that I can't wait to try next time I visit.
Came here to get the Sichuan Boiled Fish 水煮鱼 , Spicy Diced Chicken 辣子鸡 , and Pumpkin Pancake. The fish was very tender and smooth, however note we got an upgrade for fresh sea bass for $7 as the default option is frozen fish. The taste is however definitely watered down to suit the Singaporean palate and we wished it could more spicy and numbing. Chicken was good as it was crispy yet not dry. Pumpkin pancake was a hidden gem as it was perfectly crispy and chewy, and reminded us of 煎䭔. Overall a decent place to go but don’t expect fiery flavours as it has been adapted to the local palate.
I recently had dinner at Chengdu in Singapore with a group of friends, some of whom are not vegetarian. They offer a few vegan options on their menu, which we were able to see in the last two photos. The food was pretty good, although it was quite spicy for those who don't usually eat spicy food. Even my non-vegetarian friends enjoyed the meatless dishes. I particularly liked the mala vegetables, mapo tofu, potato slices, vegetable fried rice, and passionfruit lemon yuzu. These dishes also seemed to be dairy-free. Overall, the food was spicy, savory, and delicious. I recommend making a reservation before going, as it was quite busy even on a weekday night. I booked my reservation through Chope.
I have dined at Chengdu on two occasions and I just can't get enough of their 干煸肥肠 ($22.80)! It's not gamy at all and has just the right amount of spice for a good kick. My second favorite dish is the 重庆酸菜鱼 ($22.80), the soup is less spicy compared to Ba Shu's but it's incredibly addictive. Coming in third is the 水煮牛肉 ($25.80), the beef tenderloin is extremely tender. I also tried the 秘制泉水牛蛙 ($27.80), which reminded me of mala frog legs, a dish worth trying if you have some extra cash. I used Burpple Beyond vouchers for appetizers, the 蒜泥白肉 ($12.80) was a good choice, but I did not enjoy the 冷锅串串 ($12.80) as much. Chengdu's appetizers took quite a while to be served, but their hot dishes were served much faster. I also tried the 麻婆豆腐 ($12.80) and the 咸蛋黄焗南瓜 ($12.80), both dishes were delicious and offered the perfect blend of sweet and salty flavors. I do not recommend the 歌乐山辣子鸡 ($20.80) as the chicken was tough and there were more chili peppers than chicken pieces. The 冒辣火辣 ($28.80) is a soup version of japalang mala and is extremely spicy.
