Unfortunately, the portion sizes of the side dishes were quite small—definitely not enough for five people. To make matters worse, the dishes were served one at a time, leaving us waiting for the rice and porridge while our plates emptied. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant was bustling during the lunch hour. Overall, the quality of the food was good.
Situated within Chinatown Point, this restaurant offers prompt and attentive service. The space is quite spacious, providing plenty of seating even during peak meal times. In addition to their signature porridge, they offer a wide variety of dishes, including noodles and fried items. While the food is less salty than at other locations, the porridge still leans towards the salty side. The Hor Fun was particularly good. Our total bill for four dishes for four people came to over $70. I may consider returning soon.
I tried the Dried Scallop Porridge with Minced Meat, Century Egg, and Salted Egg, which was served piping hot in a clay pot. It was delicious, loaded with ingredients, and perfect for two people. Very tasty! We also had the Deep Fried Prawn Roll, which had a crispy exterior with soft fillings that included chestnuts. It was excellent—just one bite and we were all impressed! I preferred it with chili sauce over the sweet sauce provided. Next came the Omelette with Tomato and Prawns, which was served last after we finished the other dishes. Unfortunately, this was the only item we didn't really enjoy. It tasted like an omelette smothered in ketchup with some tomato chunks and prawns. I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you’re dining with small children. The restaurant was a bit warm, so I opted for lemon tea instead of the pot of tea (which serves two). The lemon tea wasn’t homemade but rather similar to the kind you find in bottled drinks. On a positive note, the service was good. The lady who attended to us was polite and attentive. She noticed we were sharing and offered us an additional menu, as well as a recommendation for a special fried fish dish. The total for three dishes and one drink came to just over $55, which I felt was a bit pricey. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but there is room for improvement in a couple of areas.
Great food served here! The porridge selection is great and also offers a lot of other dishes which are wonderful to the palate and the stomach. The salted egg dishes are excellent especially the salted egg pumpkin which totally kicks off everything. The noddle dish was ok, but it helped to provide the smoothness after the porridge meals. Overall, well recommended.
Big portion, fried rice can be shared with two people. The food was good and tasty
