Skiff's Cakes - Simi Valley

Decided to give this bakery a try with the hope they offer sugar free desserts for my diabetic husband. It was his birthday and I thought cupcakes would be a good option so everyone attending the party could have something different. Immediately arriving I asked the woman behind the counter if they had any options sugar free. She said no. I went to make my way to the cupcake section and she decided to take next in line. I thought this was extremely rude since I still wanted to order something. I patiently waited with my daughter as the woman she serviced ahead of me took her sweet time deciding on 8 cupcakes. I almost left believing my business was not worth their time but I do believe in supporting small businesses. Later I served the cupcakes and not one person was impressed. I did think the banana one I purchased was pretty good. The banana flavor was strong and the frosting tasted delicious. The chocolate marshmallow had very little filling and the German chocolate had too much topping. I think between the way I was treated and the cupcakes being just ok, I will not return. I will give 3 stars though for the guy working behind the counter. He was friendly and named an option for me finding sugar free cupcakes as I waited. I appreciated that and was good to see someone behind the counter have a nice welcoming personality. If you are running a business, you should put your best people in contact with the customer. I feel like if he was the one helping me, he would have not made me wait.

I couldn’t find something bad to say about Skiffs if I wanted to, which I don’t, because because I love their baked goods so much. ?

Love this place, never disappoints. Delicious cakes, cupcakes, mini cheese bites and macarons. They even have dog treats.

Went in to place the final order on a cake I had previously discussed with an employee at the bakery including prices. I went in on a Saturday to order the cake for the following week however I was turned away and told that she could not take the order due to short staffing. Not only do I find it ridiculous a business would choose the weekend to be short staffed when that would be a prime day for business but to turn a customer away and told to come in another day to place an order is downright inconsiderate. I guess business is so great they turn customers away. Lost my business and anyone (friends/family) I can tell.

Very disappointing that this bakery is not yet taking orders for cakes. Unfortunately, I had to go elsewhere to order a birthday cake.
