California Bowl - Simi Valley

I have been visiting this restaurant for over 15 years, and the food is just as fantastic as it was the first time I tasted it. My favorite is the Spicy Tuna bowl, although I also really enjoy the Teriyaki Chicken bowls. It's one of the few places that hasn't increased its prices during these challenging times. Definitely give it a try; you won't be disappointed!

The wait was a bit lengthy, but the portion sizes were enormous, and the kabocha tempura was absolutely delicious. The beef, however, was excessively salty, though the generous amount of tempura left me feeling quite full after my meal in the car! Is it considered 'Washoku'? That’s still up for debate. The menu features dishes like yakisoba, teriyaki, curry, and California rolls—comfort foods that are relatively easy to prepare at home. However, the portion sizes and prices at California Bowl are truly unbeatable; it definitely prioritizes quantity over quality. California Bowl occupies a unique space in the realm of Americanized Japanese cuisine that has developed over the past century. The focus on comfort and satisfaction resonates deeply with its many patrons.

This restaurant boasts an impressive selection on its extensive menu, offering a wealth of delicious choices. For years, I was the only sushi lover in my family, but I eventually persuaded my wife to try the Mexico City Roll, and now she eagerly requests meals here. It’s such a joy for me; sushi is no longer just a guilty pleasure—I can share it with the love of my life. Our son can be picky, but he absolutely loves the Chicken Katsu here, so now the whole family can enjoy dining together with our favorite dishes. We truly appreciate this place. The Teriyaki, sushi, and appetizers are all outstanding, and even the Miso soup is delightful. In fact, we've never been let down during our visits to California Bowl. Keep up the fantastic work!

The food was pretty good for a quick lunch. I ordered the teriyaki bowl with a drink for only $8. It was a fantastic value for the price!
