Sancho , at the Castle Square. It was just what the doctor ordered for coffee and cake, before starting our visit to Silves Castle. This establishment is a curious combination of handicraft shop and café. It is easily dismissed as a handicraft shop, but the outdoor seating area lets the cat out of the bag: this is also a café. Estabelecimentos D. Sancho offers a good sit down at the Castle Square, good coffee and terrific cake. Service of the staff is Portuguese style, modest and friendly. To be recommended.
Near the castle. Handing to get a snack or drink and buy a few souvenirs at the same time. Friendly staff, with snack seating outside and in.
Stopped here coffee and orange cake after climbing up the steep cobbled streets in 36 degrees of heat. Lovely shaded terrace, an interesting shop retail area and lovely clean toilets.
The owner makes the place! Stopped in for a beer. Rui made sure we enjoyed our selection. Also was happy to share his knowledge regarding Silves, grapes and port. The store has one of the largest selection of port in the area. A very pleasant visit.
The Dom Sancho Cafe is located adjacent to the Senate and is a great location for taking a break from climbing the hills or visiting the historic castle. Our group of 4 stopped in for a drink and pastry. The snacks were good but charging customers 3 Euros for a small beer is a bit much. On our next visit we will take our break closer to the downtown area.
