Smoque Bbq - side

Maybe it was a bad day, but the sides were missing any semblance of soul or fullness. Baked Beans were watery and missing the flavor texture I am used to with Baked beans. The Mac Cheese was flavorless. I so was disappointed as the ribs however were wonderful. Over all, Smoque does have the good meats, but don't expect soul food flavored sides.

The staple meats are delicious and the sauce is really good. I tried the brisket and the pulled pork and both were probably as good as is possible to make, and the price is fair. The sides, however, are comically overpriced. $3.50 for a 2” diameter piece of cornbread is egregious. It tastes good but there's no way to justify buying it at that price, so I can't recommend it. Overall very worth a trip to this neighborhood though.

Smoque is by far the best BBQ joint in the Chicago area. The brisket is to die for, as well as all the sides they have to offer. Service has been great every time and have never had a problem. Will definitely keep coming here as long as they are around. A

BBQ at it's finest, as well as delicious sides and desserts. I drive 25 miles each way to enjoy this food.
