Also, when I went to the men's room at the end of the meal, I noticed there was a full listing of specials on a chalkboard near the bar; the waitress had not mentioned at all. Maybe it's just the general level of help these days. Our last visit to Ken's was fine, but previously there was another service issue. Ken's is kind of a neighborhood place, but I get the impression that management doesn't always train well, maybe hiring friends. I don't know.
Both meals were amazing! I had the walleye and my husband the scallops. We both loved our meals. We split the cheesecake with berry sauce, which was perfection. I must add that Ken's has a great selection of drinks. They are the best at making martinis, in my opinion. I plan to return soon.
A group of 6 friends enjoyed a hearty and relaxing Sunday dinner at Ken's. Pork chops, liver and onions, walleye piccata, whitefish and risotto, lasagne. All delicious. For dessert: limoncello cake with fresh berries. Great neighborhood restaurant with attentive service.
Kens is a great neighborhood restaurant that still raises the bar for good food. Linen on the table makes you feel like eating out is a special event. Their wait staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The food is always great and specials make you want to come back soon.
My first time at Ken's and that is only because when I was searching for a steakhouse to take my wife for mother's day, everywhere was booked up and I stumbled across Ken's. I always passes this place through the years and thought they were closed for some reason. We arrived at 7:05 with a reservation for 7:00 and was sat right away. I was expecting it to be packed because I got the last reservation when I reserved but surprisingly it was only 6 other parties there. Ambience is old schoo but inviting. The restaurant itself is small but efficient. We were served pizza bread and pickled sweet peppers that was very tasty. We ordered blackened shrimp for the appetizer and the dish wasn't what I expected. I got more of a barbecue shrimp dish rather than the blackened shrimp. The sauce the shrimp was in was too salty. For entree me and the wife both got the 25 oz ribeye cooked medium with an herb butter sauce and mushrooms. The steak was big and juicy and cooked perfectly. I had mash potatoes and the wife got twice baked. She said the twice baked tasted like it was frozen and not homemade my potatoes was slightly salty. Overall service was great and fast. We got there at 7:05 and was done and out the restaurant with leftovers by 7:45. Price with tip came out to $200. Would I go back, sure but would order a different appetizer and side for entree, but really like the neighborhood feel and speed of service
