Toraji Ebisu-en - Shibuya-ku

The restaurant was able to fulfill my wish on really short notice to be seated in a room where a scene of popular television show Terrace House was taken. Subsequently we had a room all to ourselves. I recommend the osake premium. I asked for it to be warm (hotto) and they did an excellent job. The website of Toraji is very user friendly for making reservations: it is even possible to choose a reservation by subject: business meeting, group, location with a view OR choose by location (lots of Toraji venues all over Tokio). I like it that we were allowed to barbecue the meat by ourselves. Korean barbecue restaurants 9with Korean staff own by Koreans) sometimes have a cook standing at your table which invades my privacy; suki janai desu. The barbecue plate does not get smokey or burnt during the entire barbecue. If you like Korean barbecue with a Japanese twist, go for Toraji. Japan takes foreign and improve it in their own perfect sense. Oishii deshita! Toraji ga daisuki!

Food was good in general but their special of the day cuts of meat was mediocre. Kind of weird that their regular menu was good but not their daily special. Also the waitress came and told us that it 's a last order around 1.5 hrs into getting seated. I am not sure if this is because we requested a private dining room, but apparently there was a 2 hr limit. I was not informed of this and do not recall seeing this anywhere in the restaurant info upon making a reservation. It was ok, but we were there for a casual business dinner suddenly being told we had to place out last order and basically be ready to leave was a bit awkward.

Cost performance is too bad. I think this level is lower than usual. If you pay the same money, there is a good Yakiniku shop in Ebisu area.
