It's been serving very poor quality food for years. Reviews are very poor on their website but no moves to improve it at all. One staff member struggling to serve a line of people. Broken oven today which added to her stress. Probably fine for just a cup of tea, otherwise, give it a miss.
Sometimes stop by for a cup of tea and a cake whilst doing my shopping, and must say it is always a lovely break. The cafe is well organised, prices are great, and I have never received bad service. Smiley staff make all the difference too!
I stood for a long time before i got served, nobody to be seen apart from one chatting to people sitting down, and knew i was there but seemed to be ignored. a pot of tea at £1.60 and a sandwich priced at £3.25 for one slice of cheese, and a sausage roll for £1.85 .cake at £3.50. no wonder it was quiet. i was not impressed. its at the far end of the Range, if you want to look for it and try for yourself but make sure you have plenty of money.
My wife and I decided to try Dee Dee's Cafe in The Range for the first time. We stopped by for lunch after picking her up from work and needed to grab some items for our kids. We enjoyed cream teas while the kids sipped on juice and indulged in cake. The menu also offered paninis, pasties, sausage rolls, and more. While the cream tea was decent, I thought our mugs could have used a bit more water for the tea. The dining area was average, with booths lining one wall and tables scattered throughout. When we arrived, the cafe was not busy but there were a few tables that needed to be cleared, including some booths with dropped crisps on the floor.
I cannot give a rating as I have visited this restaurant twice in the last two weeks, and both times there was no hot food available. During my first visit at lunchtime, I was informed that the cooker was not on and when I requested a panini from the display cabinet, I was told they were for display purposes only. I did have a good hot chocolate and the young man who served me was very pleasant. Today, I visited at 3:40 pm for a meal but was informed that there was no food available and the coffee machine was being cleaned so it could not be used. I was also told that the restaurant was closing at 4 pm, which seems short-sighted considering The Range store is open until 8 pm and it's just three weeks before Christmas, their prime selling period. If the restaurant regularly closes at this time, it should be clearly advertised near the entrance as the cafe is tucked away in a corner upstairs, making it quite a trek to be turned away. I was disappointed and will not be attempting to dine here again as there are other options nearby, such as Sainsbury's and Costa, that are better equipped to accommodate customer needs.
