Pope's Cafe - Shelbyville

We just moved here 2 weeks ago. We love small mom and pop businesses. We stumbled across this gem. We walked in and were greeted with a smile. We sat down, and our server was the sweetest person. (Jennifer . We told her we just moved here and looking for things to do and a hairstylist. She sat down and chatted with us about local places to see. She also gave me information for a hairstylist. Win win. The food.... probably the best home cooking I've had in a while. I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich with hashbrowns. My husband got the 3 egg omelet with bacon and cheese with 3 pancakes. Now I'm not a pancake person, but I tasted it because Fred said they were so good. Yep, hands down. I took 1 bite, and I'm hooked. This little place does not disappoint. The sweet tea, reminded me of my dad's tea. Love it

Really nice service, really good food, not popular, and quiet place. Everything you'd want for a good dinner.

My wife and I stopped and met one of my friends that were just leaving Popes and I turned to her and I said why don't we just eat here because he always brags on their food. She had a hamburger loaded and I had a Philly cheese steak both of us had fries and a sweet tea. The tea comes in a huge glass jar and it was fresh and homemade. All she did was brag on her hamburger and I had to have a bite and boy was it good. My Philly cheesesteak was awesome also. Thumbs up to this restaurant and we will be visiting their often.

My 1st visit the food and service are great ! I enjoyed turkey and dressing, okra and lima beans. Dessert was a difficult decision, chose the chocolate meringue pie wonderful . Then, took a slice of Charlie Pride pie a serving of banana pudding home for enjoying another day.

This charming little diner offers delicious food and fantastic service. We visited for breakfast and appreciated both the food and the ambiance. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, efficient, and accommodating. My husband faced a tough decision with the many homemade pies on the menu but ultimately chose the coconut cream pie. He mentioned that while it wasn't the best he had ever tasted, it was still quite good. However, I truly enjoyed the best blackberry fried pie I've ever had! We would definitely return if we’re in the area again.
