The food has consistently been hot and delicious. I highly recommend this seafood place over some of its competitors. It's unfortunate that some negative reviews have surfaced, likely due to a race-related issue, but we've always received exceptional service every time we've visited. We've also seen the same high-quality service and food provided to many other customers. We definitely recommend eating here!
The seafood was the worst I've ever had. I ordered broiled scallops and shrimp, which was supposed to come with a side of slaw. Unfortunately, the scallops were undercooked, and the shrimp had a rubbery texture, as if they had been cooked straight from frozen. To make matters worse, no slaw was included with the meal. My wife ordered broiled flounder, which was also undercooked and so greasy that even our cats refused to eat it when we brought it home. I will never dine there again and cannot recommend it to anyone. It was by far the worst experience!
My Boyfriend and I went in to eat here. We were seated fairly quickly but it took 10 mins. to take our drink order and then an elderly caucasian couple came in were seated and brought drinks and the complimentary hushpuppies all while we still haven't seen the waitress again. Needless to say we got up and left and my boyfriend told the hostess that they needed to hire staff that didn't pick and choose who they served. It was the worst experience ever.
My husband and I dined out on Thursday night (02/19/2015) and the restaurant was almost empty. We were seated, but it took at least 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, let alone take our order. As we waited, we noticed other patrons staring at us, which made my husband feel very uncomfortable. He even asked if we were supposed to be eating there. At that moment, we were the only Black customers in the restaurant. The owner really needs to consider who they hire to represent their business. God bless!
I was disappointed to find that this restaurant does not accept card payments, not even debit cards. There is an ATM inside, but why should I have to pay a fee just to eat there? The staff wasn't friendly, and the meal was not enjoyable. The flounder I had was very thin and overcooked. I won't be returning; it was my first visit in many years, and I’ll stick with Mayflower for my dining needs.
