Stopped in for dinner recently at Resurrection Roadhouse in Seward, Alaska. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the views were stunning. The host, Nadezhda Velikova, especially stood out to us as she welcomed us into the restaurant and sat us at a table with a great view. As we exited after dinner, she inquired if we had a good dinner and we let her know that she was the start of our wonderful dining experience there. Thank you, and we will be back again when we visit Seward!
Had dinner here with my husband and our teen sons our last night in Alaska. Two of us had salmon, two had steaks and one had gnocchi and added salmon to the meal. We also each had dessert. The food was good, not great, but good. Our waiter was also good. My issue came when our bill was delivered to the table and the waiter explained that we would see a 20% gratuity added in. I had noticed on the menu that a 20% gratuity was automatically added for tables of 6 or more, so, I asked if that was a mistake since there were five of us, at which point he said it was not an error but we could talk with the manager if we had questions. As we exited, my husband and I stopped at the hostess area and spoke with the asst manager who said the 20% gratuity for six should not have been printed in the menu, rather it was UP TO THEIR DISCRETION whose bill it was automatically added to. Wait…….What?!?! So, are you saying that if I’m over 40 you add the gratuity? If I have children? If this is my first time to Alaska? We asked what that even meant, but she could not explain and said she would speak with their mgr as she agreed there should be some clearer guidelines. Do you really think so????? Bottom line, this just felt slimy, and, no matter what the food was like, it left a really bad taste in our mouths of Resurrection Roadhouse.
ACTUALLY VISITED JUNE 2019. However, my review was sitting in DRAFTS rather than being posted. My mistake, I guess, but since I took the time to write a review after visiting, I wanted to post it anyway. Here is what I wrote at the time of my visit: We were seated by the window and had a superb view to enjoy as we ate. Our food here was a “step above” and the service here was really good, too. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is on the grounds of the Seward Windsong Lodge but you could stop here for a meal even if you were not staying here. There is a parking lot between the restaurant and some of the lodges there. The menu for lunch or supper had about 4 sandwich choices and about 4 or 5 entrees. We had the Smoked Salmon BLT on toast and enjoyed it very much. It came with fries or you could substitute sweet potato fries for an extra charge. If you are not overly hungry, I would say you could share that meal and maybe add a bowl of soup or dessert if needed. We felt welcomed and well treated here.
We came here as a group and had reservations. No waiting. Had the braised chicken with Brussels Sprouts. Delicious. We brought our own bottle of wine. Corking fee was $25 but worth it since we had brought wine sling on the trip for pairing food.
