We had excellent dourado the whole fish with bread, olives, salad, broccoli (which we asked for), fantastic chocolate mousse, and wine. All of that cost 7.50 euros cash per person. On top of that, we met two sisters, one of whom we spent the next afternoon with being shown about. What a nice experience! Don't miss it.
Cozy , homely ! 7,50 all you can eat !!!! fresh fish and made by fishermen ! take you pick from whatever fish is daily available , don+t be shy to ask for an opinion or a sugestion , as said they are fisherman and know all too well their business ! :
Since i wrote my first review for this restuarant, I have been back repeatedly. On one occasion I asked the owner, José, how he felt being #4 rated restaurant of 212 in the Setúbal area on tripadvisor and he answered: tired . This is not surprising as they produce a constant stream of quality fresh grilled fish all day long. At lunchtime you now have to take a ticket and wait to be called to sit down, On warmer days, you might find yourself waiting over an hour. On cooler days, things are a lot less hectic. The simple fact is that, despite its humble appearance and no-nonsense attitude to decor, this little place provides excellent home-cooked meals for just 7,5 EUR. (approx 6 GBP). For this price you get a bread basket, olives, salad, main dish which I will enumerate below, dessert, drink (including house wine) and coffee. It 's not just cheap: the fish really is excellent. It comes from José 's contact in Sesimbra, a fishing town just an hour away, and he is supplied twice a day. If you go for dinner, arrive after 19h30, as he will have recieved the fresh fish by then. As it stands the restaurant offers the following dishes regularly: Sardines, Horse Mackerel, Salmon, Scabbard Fish and the remaining fish you 'll have to check on the translator: Besugo, Alcorraz, Robalo, sargueta, choupa, chicharro, dourada and sargos. He also does a remarkable grilled cuttlefish. If you want to try the classic Setubal dish of 'Fried Cuttlefish ', his is just as good as many other, much more expensive, restaurants in Setubal. There are also at least 2 typical Portuguese dishes of the day and a selection of grilled meats, all made on the spot. There is electronic payment and parking is no problem at all. They close at around 22h00. Extras: Any special liqueurs, such as the wonderful Setubal district Moscatel wine costs an extra EUR 1.20, and digestifs such as whisky will cost you an extra EUR 1,50. Bother to go!
Wonderful spot for lunch just a few steps from the train station. Casual, delicious seafood options are plenty on the daily menu.
Great food! Come earlier so you can get nice and fast seating.
