La Crique - Sète

We visited Sete at the end of May, there were very few restaurants open but luckily we came across La Crique after a beach front stroll. The staff were very friendly and we were served promptly with our drink choices. It was a relaxed dinner...with my wife and I enjoying a large authentic pizza each, made on demand and cooked in the roaring pizza oven. It was excellent value for money and nice to chill out with the seafront just a stones throw from the restaurant.

My family and I dined there during our last night in Sète. It was an OK experience, although I would not return. Location: Located in the south part of Sète, near the Plage des Quilles, this restaurant is in a nice place, near the beach...and the promenade. It was a minute drive from our hotel (Terra Gaia residences). If you are arriving by train to visit Sète, this place is not close, and not worth the effort to go there. Quality: of us ordered pizza and my son tagliatelles carbonara. The pizzas are cooked in a wood oven, which is nice, but the crust was too thin, which made it more a pizza cracker than a regular pizza. The pasta dish was fine. Overall, decent food but not great. Service: When they came by, the waiter and waitress were nice, but I found the service to be inattentive. The young lady who sat customers was clearly bored and unenthusiastic about her duties. Overall, the service was not good. Price: being a restaurant close to the beach, the prices were still reasonable. Pizzas were in the euro range, which was nice. Desserts were priced a bit high, and not worth it, in my opinion. Overall, an OK meal, but given the choice of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, I would not return there very soon.

The food was adequate, service slightly better than average. Though a couple of members of our group speak serviceable French, sadly, it was better than the server's English and we had a tough time communicating.
