We went there for a drink last week. Now there’s now a huge tent with a bar in it, and some white plastic chairs by the water. It looks like an army camp and seems really unsympathetic to the beautiful environment. The target market seems to be bikers or other big groups.
We go here often because sitting by the river in the garden with a cold beer is a delight. Exceptional in fact. Also the drive there is delightful. However if you plan to eat the cooking seems to be poor quality. It may be that we’re simply not familiar with Belgian cuisine. But frankly I had one of the weirdest omelettes I’ve ever had here. The ingredients didn’t belong together. The staff are pleasant but not particularly warm or welcoming.
I ate here with my wife who was verbally attacked by the waitress while we ate our meal then again on here for advising other travelers of our bad experience. When we were presented with our 300g entrecôte cut into 2 thin slithers I asked my wife to ask the waitress why. I was Worried that the waitress had misunderstood our order and had given us 2 steaks each. I never thought for the life of me a chef would cut an entrecôte into slithers. The reason I went for entrecôte is because 300g means a nice thick steak, nicely browned on the outside with a nice **** middle. As a result of my wife politely asking the question she was profusely attacked by the waitress even after my wife said everything was okay simply to try to diffuse the embarrassing situation. The steak was not pleasant at all. A bit like eating an old shoe. The only reason I finished mine was because I was starving. The next day I felt I’ll. I believe the steak was put in a deep fryer. It was greasy and hard. For the information of the waitress who I see also likes to attack all the feedback left. I am very happy with my wife and don’t need to be brave, I completely agree with her. I was also appalled with the service and the food except my French was not good enough to raise the question.
The waitress is very agressive. When my order of a 300g entrecôte came cut in two thin slices I was worried she had misunderstood the order as 2 steaks per person so I tactfully asked why there were 2 steaks on my plate. Her response was to bend over me whilst I was eating and start shouting at me whilst trusting het finger in my husbands face saying it was his fault for his choice of doness. I told her it was all okay with the aim that she would stop shouting at me as I didn’t want any confrontation but she didn’t stop. It would appear her reason is that it is easier to cremate a steak when it is cut in two thin slices than when it’s thicker. I advise you there is a much nicer restaurant not ,much further down the road. Food appalling and service appallingly.
We came here for a BBQ which was fantastic. Freshly cooked BBQ meats and a large salad bar. I'm vegetarian and they were happy to cook me an alternative. Very tasty food. Well worth a visit
