The Rythre Arms - Selby

Getting to The Rythre restaurant can be a bit of a challenge as it is located in a remote area with a flooded road. However, the journey is definitely worth it. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, making every customer feel special. The food is cooked beautifully and served promptly. Despite it being Valentine's Day, the service was efficient. The starters were presented nicely, especially the haggis bon bons which were succulent. The main course, a 38 ounce T-bone steak, was tender and cooked to perfection. The homemade chips were a hit with my wife, and the additional sides of onion rings and garlic mushrooms were also delicious. The portions were generous but we managed to finish everything. The bill was reasonable considering the quality of the food. Overall, it was a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion with my special lady.

I went to this restaurant for the first time after being highly recommended by friends. The staff was very welcoming and provided excellent service. All three courses we had were flawless and we really enjoyed our experience. We will definitely be returning, especially for the delicious lemon cheesecake!

Last night, four of us traveled from Beverley to dine at Ryther Arms. The starters were enjoyable, but unfortunately, the mains were a huge letdown. We all ordered different cuts of meat cooked medium-rare, but only one steak was prepared correctly. The rest were overcooked and low in quality. The peppercorn sauce seemed to be from a packet and had a strange skin on top. The presentation of the steaks was lacking, which was disappointing as they are supposed to be the highlight of the meal. Although we were able to afford the meal, it was very expensive and not worth the price. We were all disappointed with our experience and will not be returning to Ryther Arms.

Really disappointing experience. Not visited for some time and wont be returning any time soon. We had early bird special, steak only just acceptable in taste and tenderness. A few potato wedges masquerading as chips, poor barely cooked mushrooms, heavily battered onion rings ands just OK sauces. Service bordering on brusque throughout, although did check and we said OK as didn't want it becoming an issue. Accept subjective and lots of people seem to like but certainly not for us. Just pleased we didn't pay the non early bird price!

We have been before and it was brilliant. However this is the last time I will be eating there again. The waitress was very rude and dismissive the whole time we were there. We ordered the T-bone to share and weren 't given the opportunity to tell them how we prefer it to be cooked. The steak then came blue massively underdone to our liking. This is not to say it wasn 't a top quality cut of meat because it assuredly was. However I was not willing to pay £95 for a steak that wasn 't cooked to my liking. After a rather long wait for the waitress to come back and ask how our meals were I ended up having to get up and go to see the manager to tell him I was unhappy with the meal and also the service, to which he replied, I 've been down to check on you 2ce and you never mentioned it then, what 's wrong with it now ? After which I told him he hadn 't been to check on us, as we had only just received our meal and that the waitress has been abrupt and rude all evening and that she hadn 't even asked how we would like our steak cooking before she disappeared off in a hurry. The waitress then joins the conversation from over his shoulder and said, I did ask and you said medium rare , which I wouldn 't have said as I prefer medium for that cut of steak and more to the point even if i did ask for medium rare the steak was blue! The managers response to this was to tell me to just pay for the drinks and not the steak. Rather than rectifying the steak and the service problem. After realizing I wasn 't willing to finish my drink but more than happy to pay for it he told me it 's fine and to just go. Safe to say it spoilt our evening. We drove an hour that night to enjoy a nice steak but went home hungry with a bitter taste in our mouths.
