In Crosby looking for dinner, and my friend remembered this place. She'd been pre covid, but it was my first time. It was a Thursday evening. Its a lovely place. Only small, rustic, but very cosy. I loved the tree with its foliage spreading across...the ceiling. We were greated warmly, and show our table. The staff were welcoming, and friendly throughout. Re the food: To start I went with the lamb croquettes, served with hummus and pomegranate seeds. For mains, roasted hake, with crushed potatoes, braised leeks, peas and a cream, cider sauce. And for pud, the key lime pie. All the food was delicious. Add to that an aperitif, and a nice bottle of rosè, and it made for an excellent evening. A couple of tiny niggles though. For the price, I thought the size of the dessert a little small. Otherwise the meal was really good value. The other, though mains, starters were by no means cold, I think they could've been hotter. But then I'm old school and prefer my dins red hot : Nitpicking aside, it was a really good night, and i'd have not qualms about going back there, or recommending the place.
In this area, vegan options are limited, so discovering this restaurant with a dedicated vegan menu was a pleasant surprise. With the exception of bank holiday weekends, you can enjoy two courses for £15. The dishes we sampled were both delicious. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff were friendly.
The staff are friendly, efficient and attentive. The two course meal is of good value! The gambas pil pil was swamped in oil which was tasteless and the duck was over cooked but all edible!
Disappointing, having read other reviews . Visited for dinner and the service was lack lustre at best I had to make the same request twice to staff on more than one occasion and staff were not at all attentive. The main dish, chicken and chorizo fajitas, was okay, although nothing special and a bit too greasy, and the lettuce wasn't even served fresh (going brown on the outside). The triple cooked chips were definitely not cooked three times, and barely cooked once, as they were served soggy and uncooked. I complained and the restaurant were very fair and did not charge me for them, although for me this didn't make up for the poor service and mediocre food.
