I would avoid this place like the plague, my boyfriend and I visited here and saw the doormen allowing drug dealing incidences occur and men pestering women for sex. After I reported the disgusting behaviour from the men approaching women not only myself when going to the toilet, my boyfriend was assaulted by the doormen and thrown onto the ground in the yard and punched and choked, I also was thrown to the ground and I am covered in bruises, please bear in mind I am a 5 ft 1 recovering anorexic weighing 7st. Merseyside police need to close this place down. He only nice thing I can say about this place is that the seats are comfortable and the bar staff are friendly. Please look after yourself if you visit here. We will never be back. Will stick to south Liverpool from now on.
Went here last night and its pretty rubbish. Music was very loud remixes of pop songs and the bar was very crowed. If you want music/dancing/cheap drinks its ok
Mistreated by a bouncer 7 Aug outside the bar (1145-12am? . No reply from Parnells. Reported to SIA authorities they are investigating. I arrived with a friend, and he was informed he could not come in as it was required to book in online. We waited for a few minutes ,then 4 girls appeared outside clearly informing everyone outside they had not booked and were allowed in. I politely challenged the bouncer questioning if we could come in and why these 4 girls were allowed in. He immediately responded by being verbally abusive, swearing, being physically aggressive, then pushing me and provoking me. I did not reply by being aggressive in any way verbally or physically despite provocation. I attempted to resolve the situation calmly verbally but the bouncer became more hostile. The other bouncer was in agreement with the other as he was also aggressive. I have been going to parnells for 15 years-last boxing night was an amazing night there. Will never return. I wasn't drunk and was mistreated. It was distressing infuriating and puts me off ever revisiting the bar. It was an amazing night there on Boxing night and I had good memories. I know COVID is difficult for people and possibly bouncers with new rules and how clients are etc but this is no excuse. Never had a problem like this with a bouncer in 15 years of going out. I I recently moved back to Liverpool and was out to enjoy myself after a busy and hard week working in a hospital and did not need that. The law does not allow doormen to engage in excessive force or violence as they see fit. They can only use force if someone uses it against them in the first place. These bouncer rules and regulations fall under the right to use self-defense in the United Kingdom why did they both break this clear rule -unprovoked?
Honestly I don't mind the bar staff or venue for the most part. My issue is that almost every time I've been there it's majorly packed, not sure what your maximum occupancy is but when you can't move then it's a major issue. I had an issue on my first visit to Parnells and calmed down as soon as the bouncers came over to me. First off they surrounded me (which the SIA heavily advise against and instead recommend the cover method) and whilst apologizing I had one who just kept on trying to goad me into something since he kept on insulting me when I was deescalating myself. Besides that and the rampant coke use in the bathroom it's a good little place, I'd just ask that you have your door staff do a refresher course with the SIA to avoid any future incidents. Hopefully if the manager sees this then instead of making excuses or brushing it off will take it into account and take necessary steps as it's constructive criticism.
