Gasthaus Cafe Nagoldquelle Gaststaette

We tried here only because most other places in the area were either closed, moribund or packed out shoulder to shoulder. The Nagoldquelle is alongside and just off the main road and I don 't know about it looking like a regular cafe , when we pulled in to park it looked a little like a Bikers ' Rendezvous. However most Bikers we have met we found to have no worse manners than the average family Motorist so we sat at the tables and awnings outside. There were all sorts there including families with children and dogs (all well behaved) even deck chairs on the grass. Service was not too hurried but it was a hot day and the grounds around the Cafe were crowded. The wines were acceptable as are most local wines and an Iced Coffee astonishingly came in an old fashioned Knickerbocker Glory glass, a few inches of Coffee topped with Ice Cream and crowned with a huge dollop of Cream. We called in late afternoon Sunday 19th August.

Had dinner here one evening and was not disappointed. It looks like a regular cafe form the road but the food is really surprising. I had a type of spiced game pasta cannelloni whilst my husband had local deer. Bother main course came with a help yourself salad which was great too. There was a good range of dishes on the menu and nice to see something a bit different. Portions were a good size so glad we skipped the starters. Friendly staff a lovely location with swings for the little ones and plenty of space for children to let off steam without being a problem.
