Gasthaus Landgraf

After some recommendations we visited this gasthof (together nicer, warmer place more than a pub, but no upscale restaurant). details reviews in balkhausen you need to drive 20 minutes from darmstadt. they enter a room...good for approx. 30 people, wooden floor, warm light, stretched bar with beer from the hahn, many spirituoses surrounded (from different brands of giving to the distillates of staehlemuehle,) lobe filled with flaky wein (especially from the pfalz). better to make reservations that they fail when they pass. as it was our first time, we went for the surprise menu 5 courses and we mentioned: please reduce the portions, as we like to enjoy beautiful dips on plates that are not too overloaded are served. the kitchen greeted us: finely smoked jam, salami with fennel, sun-dried tomatoes, crimson red beet and wobble, olives, homemade brot so much for small portions. 1. cursing: cork tar with ice from foie gras. delicious. 2. curs: baked pulpe with sose from pancetta. excellent, as the pulp was thin and tender, the sauce probably a little on the salty side impressive. 3. curs: a king prawn served on a estragon sauce. it is unnecessary to say super again. the main course came with 2 (larger) pieces of calf meat, served on rice (made with cream and saffron) sauce of (fresh) mortal. in the meantime we were the rest of the guests in the room that we talked a lot with the cook and matre d, about his (and his partner friend the cook behind the kitchen door) where about the wee from the pfalz, the by the way perfectly to our menu (served in 0.1l glass,) the daily living, the paintings on the wall, the demand and the addition of the guests, so on. not only this openness and friendly hosting, but the service overall gave us a perfect feeling. the menu came to an end with a tart chocolate with small pieces of ice cream (cold, pineapple, he missed the pieces with crispy textures. also the check surprised us: such a menu with 55euro and the wein in the regular around 6-8E (for 2) it was the first time in this pub, but we will soon come back in the coming weeks.

Durch Freunde wurden wir auf dieses hübsche Gasthaus aufmerksam. An Ostersonntag haben wir einen Tisch mit unseren Kindern reserviert und waren schlichtweg begeistert. Wir wurden sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend - und vor allem trotz vollem Haus ohne Stress und Hektik bedient. Das Ambiente ist gediegen und sehr gemütlich. Wir bestellten Spargelsalat mit Jacobsmuscheln, Carpaccio vom Rind mit rohem Spargel und 2 Tatar vom Rind als Vorspeise. Die Jacobsmuscheln perfekt glasig. Das Tatar am Tisch zubereitet, für mich sehr scharf und für meinen Sohn ohne Sardellen. Alles kein Problem. Zum Hauptgang wählten wir 3x Seezunge und ein Rib Eye Steak. Auch hier wieder eine super Qualität und sehr gute Zubereitung. Vom Chef des Hauses wurde uns ein ausgezeichneter Pfälzer Weißburgunder vom Weingut Stern empfohlen, mit Ihm kamen wir nach dem Essen auch noch ins Gespräch und das ist auch der Grund meiner heutigen ersten Bewertung bei Trip Advisor.. Wir vier waren mehr als Zufrieden und auch meine beiden Söhnen hat es mehr als gut gefallen. Die Preise sind angemessen im mittleren bis oberen Bereich.PS Für ein Dessert war bei den üppigen Portionen kein Platz mehr.

Wir haben sehr gut gegessen (Rinderfilet, Kalbskarree und Vorspeisen). Der dazu empfohlene deutsche (!) Rotwein war eine ideale Ergänzung. Den Service haben wir als freundlich, unaufdringlich und kompetent empfunden. Zusammengefasst: Ein gelungener Abend!Nebenbei: Einige Kommentare sagen mehr über den Autor als über den ''Gasthof'' aus.

Eigentlich ist der Valentinstag eine unnötige Einrichtung, es sei denn man geniesst das aus diesem Anlaß angebotene Menü im Landgraf. In einer tollen Atmosphäre bei ausgezeichnetem Service genossen wir ein toll zusammengestelltes und ideenreiches Menü. Alles passte perfekt zusammen und war wie immer sehr schön angerichtet. Großartig was die Küche bietet und die Weinempfehlung war ein Volltreffer. So macht der Valentinstag dann doch Spaß ;-). Danke für diesen schönen Abend.

Der Begriff 'Gashaus' ist hier irreführend. Angeboten wird hier gehobene deutsche Küche mit sehr breiter weinauswahl (Bergstraße und Pfalz) überaus freundliche Besitzer und ausgezeichnete Küche!
