Sally's Mesquite Grill & Bbq - Sedona

When walkling through the maze of shops in downtown Sedona, Arizona, you will most likely run into an irritating man pretending to be interested in your day. This man is really trying to sell you a timeshare. But if you can successfully fend him off and continue your jaunt through the maze of shops, you may accidentally run into a little place called Sally’s Mesquite Grill and BBQ. Its a bit hard to find behind some of the storefront shops, but you will know you have arrived when you are standing in a window front being greeted by a very nice Canadian ex-patriot wearing a 1984 Canadian Football League championship ring. He and his wife own the joint. The walls are adorned with hundreds of pictures of previous customers gorging on a variety of smoked ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and other fantastically BBQ’d meats. My wife and I were hungry but not too hungry so we decided to just split one meal. Roughly $11.00 later we received a basket that included one pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, and 2 drinks. Getting the food is kind of awkward, as there are signs everywhere telling you what you are and are not supposed to be doing. Such signs include, “Don’t leave your cash on the counter or it will blow away”, “Don’t stand in front of the door, it opens out”, “Get in here”, and “Don’t throw away your baskets”. After inevitably screwing up almost all of those commandments, we finally got to sit down and share this meal. The sandwich portion was extremely small, but what it lacked in size it made up for in taste. The sauce they poured over the meat contained an amazing blend of spices that exploded with flavor and left you with a bit of heat as you finished. The pork was extremely moist and masterfully cooked to perfection. The coleslaw could have used a bit more vinegar, but wasn’t bad. Would I pay that much for that meal again? Perhaps, but I would not share it with my wife, there just wasn’t enough food on the plate for the both of us. Sorry babe.

The sauce she poured over the meat contained an amazing mix of spices that exploded with taste and you with a little heat as you finish. The pig was extremely moist and cooked masterfully for perfection. The Koleslaw could have used a little more vinegar, but was not bad. Would I pay again? Maybe, but I wouldn't share it with my wife, there wasn't enough food on the plate for both of us. I'm sorry, Babe.

So so so wanted like this place.

Fantastic bbq! Chicken was the best we've we've had! The bbq mustard and spicy sauce.... absolutely delish! Driving by.... you must stop in!
