We've been coming here for years, but never came to that. on Sunday after Christmas we wanted to eat something and dog friendly. our normal places were closed, but the black was open, and had tables only forsunday, which was ideal, and also took dogs! we arrived to find a parking space that is solid but has found a place. when entering we find this beautiful old building with wooden floors and a beautiful outside area that would be great in summer. we were brought to our table after we said our names and shortly after given menus. we ordered the bark, and had the extra cost of cauliflower cheese and vegetables. while we waited, I ordered drinks at the bar and loved the fact that they had to find the more difficult brands. I love German beer, and they had a German beer that I had not yet what was amazing. our meals arrived with a decent amount on the dish and tasted well. to dessert I had two, Christmas pudding and another pudding. the Christmas pudding was small, mostly seeds, and not what I call Christmas pudding, which is rich with fruits. the other pudding was in order, but nothing special, and should be for £8.00 everyone as I paid at clavelshay barn! I had made amazing puddings by a qualified chef who now chef at the castle, in taunton. if we got the bill, it was over £90, and then they want another 10% survey fee up, so it almost £100!!! we usually don't pay the extra, but this time, because of the friendly, efficient staff. our local crossways pub, at west huntspill, the somerset camra pubin somerset, makes a beautiful Sunday dinner, and even with extra veg, several desserts, expensive dose beer, etc., cost less than £70! we like the swan, but not as regular restaurant.
Really nice meal with friend, staff good and attentive
We've dined here a few times albeit not recently, as far ambiance, its a very fine building in a lovely village setting eat inside or out, the inside is an excellent mix of old and new. Some tables are close together or tight up against the wall the service is attentive and the food ok. For me its gives the impression that you are about to experience something special however whilst good it just didn't leave you feeling the same way.
Exceptional service, an excellent and interesting menu, tasty food and a lovely setting. Thank you.
