I made the reservation because my guidebooks said it gets really crowded but it was not; better safe than sorry though. The staff is very friendly and helped my with my efforts to pronounce the Hopi language items. We had the Noqkwivi, a very tender lamb and blue corn hominy soup, which was extremely delicious yet very simple looking with a clear broth. We also had the Hopi taco like a Navajo taco but made with blue corn, the Noqkwivi came with the same blue corn fy bread. Nothing was greasy. It was great, and we wish we could have gone there the next day. I could have eaten two orders. It was also good to see locals eat there too. We got some thin, crispy, piki bread at the museum next door. It looked like they are in process of stepping maintenance of the grounds and buildings. The museum was informative and the shops were all good--we recommend this and appreciated the hospitality.
Just spent 4 nights on the Hopi Reservation. Ate here every morning and evening. Great choice of Hopi recipes or Anglo recipes. Very reasonable.
We had an excellent meal, enjoying the true Hopi culture and foods of the region. The lamb stew with blue corn fry bread and the Hopi taco were both healthy and hearty. The service was perfect and being within the Hopi Cultural Center everything was authentic. Easy to find and there is some very interesting shopping right on location.
Have to try it!!! Pretty good native food and if your native or not the tribe welcomes everyone.
