The Swinery - Seattle

If you want obscenely indulgent, greasy, artery clogging pleasure, this is where you want to be. The sandwiches are one good reason to come here, in particular the cheesesteak which is NOT in any way authentic Philadelphia style, but in fact better and 'El Presidente ' which is a Caribbean ish pork sandwich. The 'rib fry ' uses pork belly ribs so it is extra fatty and rich. Honestly, eating here feels a bit like self abuse, but don 't we all do that occasionally? Additionally, the fresh and smoked meats are top quality. They even have beef bacon, which for a place named after pigs, shows serious dedication to animal products. If you need guanciale, this is the place to go. Also, they 've got smoked duck breast which is fantastic.

I had high expectations of this place given the rave reviews about the selection, food and service. The Swinery exceeded all of it. In fact, this may well be one of the few places I'm willing to drive 45 minutes out for. It was my first time coming here and I came in the later afternoon. The lady behind the counter was busy slicing meat behind the counter and turned around to acknowledge me. She asked it it was my first time at the Swinery, offered recommendations and gave me time to make a decision without bothering me. I hear the Cubano is the popular item on the menu, but I was in the mood for Poutine and a side of Pork Belly. Both items did not disappoint. The Poutine was $11, but I think it was worth the price. It came in a large box with a gracious amount of gravy, cheese curds and crispy, fried french fries. It was so delicious and filling. I think this is something to be shared next time. The side of Pork Belly came in three small slices and lightly sprinkled in salt flakes. They were fried and the fat was still juicy. Everything was delicious and filling. The lady behind the counter was very nice. She recognized all her regular customers that came in and was very hospitable to new ones. Her personality was amazing and genuine. I think I'll come back for the Cubano and share some fries next time. I forgot to take home the Porterhouse Pork Chop Smoked Bacon.

Amazing service and great sandwiches. The BBQ pulled pork is delicious, can’t wait to try the other ones!

My usual is the rib and fry. They’ve remained consistently amazing over the years! The only thing that tops a meal here is a meal followed by a nap.

OMG! Amazing sandwich. It’s called the spectacular and spectacular is the best description. Make sure to have lots of napkins as it is big and messy. Looking forward to trying the rest of their sandwiches.?
