Unlike Windy City Pizza (sister establishment), they also use Wisconsin Brick cheese with their mozzarella and I felt it really added to the pizza. I was afraid a Chicago style pizza would be swimming in red sauce and it was not at all, the proportions were perfect. We got the La Famiglia and it was so tasty with the sausage, shrooms, and fresh basil. We will definitely be back! Great pizza! (Also makes great left overs)
First time there after reading the reviews and it was fantastic! wish i wasnt so full when i got there, they were out of slices, so i had to order an entire pie, but it was worth it!! :D got the Pepperoni and it was WOW!! will definitely be back to try their other offerings!
Super good pizza! I grew up in New York City and this pizza is very different from thin crust pizzas in the best way. I've never been to Chicago or Detroit for those pizza styles so I can't speak to those, but I'd be happy to eat here often when looking for a pizza based meal (also looking forward to visiting those cities in the future for some deep dish style pizza). Their vegan JJ pie was amazing the vegan cheese had a great nutty, parmesan flavor and the sweet hot peppers were delicious. The crust was definitely darker than I'm used to but is similar to darker crusts on sourdough breads where it provides a mouthful of caramelized flavor. We also tried the pepperoni slice and a daily special slice. The pepperoni, like the crust, was darker than I usually see but equally yummy with crisp edges and a pocket of oil (flavor). The daily special slice was a super interesting mix of ingredients for St. Patrick's Day; not an everyday pizza but enjoyed the single slice of it. I look forward to trying special slices in the future as it adds a fun mix to getting the same tomato sauce cheese pie every time. I'd highly recommend trying this place and I know I'll be trying all their other vegan non vegan slices!
Breezy Town, the sister pizzeria to Windy City Pie, is down in Columbia City area and inside of a local bar (there's not a lot of signage saying it's in there and there's not any parking out front). Their pizza is so amazing, caramelizing the crust on all pizzas, thick Chicago style, but great ratio of bread to sauce to sauce to toppings. Easily good enough for 4 people total which is great, and although it's a little higher than normal, it's because of the size and quality so it's totally worth it. Highly recommend going here.
Not bad Deep Dish Chicago style pizza. Dropped In Here recently for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I personally like the thin New York style pizza, but as far as deep dish goes this is actually pretty good. The edges have a nice cheesy caramelization that makes the pizza what it is. Despite the fact that this is in a lounge Bar, came in here on a Saturday afternoon and there were several families in here with kids, so it's Pleasant enough inside. The pizzas are thick deep dish, so if you eat two or three slices, you'll feel like you've eaten five or 6 regular slices, it's very filling. They also have a couple of pinball machines and a stage with speakers mirror ball and lights, so I guess they have entertainment in there as well. I believe during the weekdays they don't open until 4 p.m. but on the weekends they seem to be open all day long.
