Red's Donuts - Seaside

Without a doubt, I have never had a better donut in my life...and I love donuts. The staff is extremely personable, courteous and efficient. The patrons are a curious mixture of lifers and newbies. The donuts are about twice as thick as a Krispy Kreme, and so much tastier. I drank a cup of coffee and devoured 8 donuts in one sitting, setting me back about five dollars. I dream of Reds...

Upon entering the narrow shop of the downtown establishment, it is almost as if the sands of time have stood still, as the stories of other customer’s flurry forward, over the counter that is almost the focal point of the shop. With friendly service, and the old time charm, this is definitely a place that will bring you back. It is a tradition for locals to come here, along with their children, and purchase a donut, a cup of coffee, perhaps a roll. After sitting for a few moments, you truly feel that you are letting the entire world go, as you are transported to other places with the whiff of freshly brewed coffee, and the savory bite of an old-fashioned donut. Or perhaps a cake donut is more your thing. With over 20 dozen donuts sold daily, you'll have no problems finding just what you want. But beware, the word of the shop reaches the ears of all those who frequent the Monterey Conference center. And, it is not unlikely that the entire store will be bought out in the course of a morning when a convention is in town. So get there early, pull up a stool, and bite into something delicious...
