I am only giving four stars because you cannot pay with card for bills less than $10–that’s all of their meals. Plan to either pay with cash or buy two meals. As I didn’t have cash, I had to add a mango lassi drink to my order, which I ordinarily wouldn’t have ordered.
As mentioned by other reviewers, this restaurant is unassuming, with friendly owners, delicious food, and reasonable prices. Upon entering, you will find the menu by the register on your left, with someone always available to provide recommendations. The Samosa Chat is a popular choice, and it's easy to see why - the flavors are exceptional. Upstairs, you can dine in a cozy loft with a comfortable and homelike atmosphere. The portion sizes are generous; I ended up taking half of my meal home. I am already looking forward to returning.
Fantastic little spot for Indian food. All the food is vegetarian and can be vegan if requested. The samosas chaat is absolutely fabulous; super filling and inexpensive. I will definitely be back to try other menu items!
This is the best Indian food I have had since moving to Scranton. I was hesitant to eat in a convenience store, but it was amazing! Although I was not thrilled about the styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, the traditional street food was of such high quality that it surpassed any doubts I had. The chai and mango lassi were incredibly delicious. I particularly appreciate that it is all vegetarian.
Shiv Shakti Chat House is a hidden gem! Despite its unassuming exterior, the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The upstairs seating area is clean and inviting. Don't be afraid of the unfamiliar names on the menu, the staff is friendly and willing to assist you in making a selection.
