The set menu was a pleasant surprise, starting with canapes and pre-dinner drinks in the charming garden room before moving to the elegant dining room. Although I usually take more photos, I was too engrossed in my delicious meal to remember to capture each course. Nevertheless, every dish was beautifully presented, making the experience one to remember.
I called to make a reservation for a special family celebration. The chef took my booking without any problems. However, we later received a call informing us that there were no tables available, which seemed suspicious to us. It is hard to believe that the chef was unaware that they were fully booked when he took my booking. It was disappointing to be treated this way.
The dining experience at this restaurant is exceptional. They use high-quality ingredients and expertly prepare them in a cozy and aesthetically pleasing dining area.
Excellent coffee cake! Very friendly staff. We sat outside as we have the hound with us. Owner made sure there was fresh water for her.
Just spent a lovely evening last night over a marvellous meal at Windlestraw one of the most picturesque Edwardian houses in the Borders . We had two friends up from South and they were blown away with the ambience, service and of course the quality of the meal. Between the four of us we experiences probably the best of Scottish produce and cooked to the height of perfection. The owners are also the cook and the waitress so we were able to get all of the information on the food and it’s origin which is a very important factor today. If you want to have one of the best experiences of Scottish hospitality and World Class cooking you really have to pay Windlestraw a visit. Seven Stars is not enough. George Margaret Bell
