The Riverhouse - Scott City

I’m not sure if they were prepared for a large group. There was no one else there eating until well into our service, but our server did not seem too knowledgeable about the menu and getting things ordered was chaotic. Not to mention that they were very cold about a group showing up on a Friday night. Not sure how to feel about that. But our group of 15 (yes 15 but again no one was there) was eventually served and our time spent there was ok, but the added gratuity is something they should TELL YOU about before setting down checks. Not that it would’ve changed anything but we double tipped thinking it wasn’t already added. Ugh!

I understand that places are short staffed but this was unacceptable. There is a sign that clearly says “please wait to be seated” and me and my party (3 people) waited behind 3 other parties. One white man stepped from behind us (and others in line) decided to walk up to a server and tell them they had a party of 14. After an hour of waiting not one single person working there even checked at the space that says “please wait to be seated.” The parties in front of us left and went somewhere else. And still- nobody said anything to me and everybody else that was waiting. The table of 14 literally got sat before everyone in-front of us because this guy decided to be rude and cut the line bother a server who was clearly flustered. but can i be mad at him? Honestly no? Because literally you’re telling me you are so short staffed that you can’t even tell the people that are waiting that there’s a wait? Or that your short staffed and it’ll be about an hour? There were empty tables literally everywhere i looked??? Make it make sense? I was tempted to put an apron on and start taking orders myself..

Service was not very good. She complained about how bad her day was. It took forever to get our drinks and food. It was way overpriced.

Chips tea was good. Reuben was full of gristle. Won't be back.

We went to the Riverhouse for lunch today. The location is beautiful and we were able to sit outside in the shade overlooking the Mississippi river. We had to wait juist a few minutes to be seated. Menus arrived quickly. It took our (very kind) waitress about 20 30 minutes to come and take our orders. We repeatedly asked for ice water refills and evenutally one of us walked up to the bar and got a pitcher of ice water. It took out food almost 2 hours to arrive and when it did arrive I was a bit surprised, the River Rat BLAT salad I had ordered was not at all what was outlined on the menu. It was baby spinach with some grape tomatoes, bacon pieces, blue cheese globs and pecans with a warmer than room temp mayonaise based dressing (it was 88 degrees outside) on the side I felt like it was not a good idea to eat it. No bread or avocado and no red wine vinaigrette on the side as advertised. Wait staff never came to check on us, so there was no opportinity to correct the issue.
