Scalby Manor Crown Carveries

The staff here are so friendly and helpful. The food was cooked well and served hot. The roast potatoes are the best we have had at a carvery. We will be returning next time we visit Scarborough.

I visited this restaurant twice during my stay at Reighton Sands and, as always, the carvery was excellent. The staff were friendly as usual. Thank you again for a great experience.

Avoid this restaurant if you have children. I booked a table here this evening to celebrate my daughter's 1st birthday with my family, but the staff were very rude from start to finish. They did not welcome us properly, our plates were never cleared, and we had to wait a long time for our desserts. When my children tried to use the toy claw machine, the staff gave them dirty looks and made comments about them not staying at the table. Why have a toy machine if you don't want children to use it? We felt uncomfortable and decided to leave. As we were leaving, a staff member made a rude comment about us not clearing our plates, even though they had not done so before serving our desserts. Another staff member criticized us for not having our children under control, even though we were on our way out. When we complained to the manager, there was no apology or remorse. We will not be returning to this restaurant and will be taking further action. Our evening was supposed to be special, but instead, we left feeling uncomfortable just for having our children with us.

I would not recommend this restaurant at all! The staff are incredibly rude, making disrespectful comments not only about me and my family, but also about other customers. They are definitely not family-friendly, as they did nothing but roll their eyes and make snotty remarks about our children. Tables were not cleared after the main course, and before desserts. It seemed like everything was too much trouble for them, even though they weren't very busy. The food was terrible as well. When we brought up our concerns to the manager as we were leaving, he didn't seem to care at all. He didn't apologize for how his staff made us feel, and both he and the staff member continued to make negative comments about us under their breath. It's really disappointing because we used to love this place, but it has really gone downhill.
