Flippers is just wonderful. They have the most wonderful lobster. Good salad bar with a terrific bean salad, fresh fruit and cottage cheese. Just really good food;not too high prices. Excellent fish and there's even some steak for those people who don't like fish, like my husband. I always enjoy going there and we go there quite often.
It is four years since my original review of Flipper's. This was the first time that we went as other than a couple. There were five of us, celebrating a 75th birthday. The prices were still reasonable, The portions were still more than adequate. The food as good as ever. As for the service, it was exceptional. It has been our experience that most restaurants cannot seem to get all meals to the table at the same time. Someone is always left waiting. All five of us got our meals at the same time, and all of the food was hot. My wife and I are fish-lovers. However, onr of our frinds ordered the Surf-and-Turf. She is not easily satisfied, but she did say that her steak was the equal of any Toronto steak house. So Flipper's is still worth the hour drive through traffic.
We tried flippers last night for the first time it's was excellent. They use halibut for the fish and chips which is a rare find these days.i had a New York sirloin which was better than the keg. We will definitely be back.
Nothing fancy about Flippers. Decor is dated, however restaurant is clean. The food is delicious, with meals prepared fresh. They start you off with a trip to the salad bar, something that is disappearing in restaurants. At the same time, they bring you fresh garlic bread. We had the house wine which is served in a jug. It was very good. Service here is also great. This is the type of restaurant which is vanishing from the food scene, where good service and food are found in a strip plaza.
