Ma's Kettle - Savage

The brisket was great, but the green beans and mac and cheese could use some improvement. The service was also good.

In July 2022, I tried the cream of crab soup, which was quite good and I would definitely order it again. However, the salmon entrée (see pic) for $16 came with one of the smallest pieces of fish I’ve ever encountered, though the Picante Caper Sauce was excellent. Unfortunately, the beans had an off taste that I couldn't quite place. Back in December 2021, I sampled the Chicken Corn Chowder (picture included) and it was tasty. The Smash Burger special (check out the pic) was fantastic, though I don’t order it often since it isn't the healthiest choice. I also enjoyed the French Dip sandwich (pic attached), which is a special treat. The Italian cold cut sandwich I tried (another image included) came with a side of pasta salad and was piled high with thick slices of meat.

I would definitely go back just for the chocolate chip dough cake! We went for lunch after work but missed the 12:30 cutoff. The server was lovely and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they didn't have some of the items we requested. We ended up ordering the Brisket Platter, which came with baked beans, a quesadilla with smoked brisket, fries, and string beans. However, the vegetables were not up to par. That's why I appreciate local businesses—they really went out of their way to ensure we had a nice experience. Our total was around $45. I encourage you to support them!

Great food, including interesting desserts not found anywhere else, in a cozy, down-to-earth setting. Just love to eat there whenever I pass thru Savage, MD.

I've eaten carry out from here several times and really enjoyed it particularly early in the pandemic. It was a great place for family style meals and their desserts are to die for! Today was my first time dining in. I got there shortly after they opened but there were already diners enjoying their lunch. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and a very fresh tomato, cucumber salad. The hot items were cooked to perfection, hot and nicely spiced. Truly prepared to my order. And very reasonably priced to boot. The server was attentive and cordial even as the restaurant quickly filled with other diners. I will definitely be back. Thanks for a great meal!
