It was very odd - dish after dish arrived looking exactly like the real thing (including a whole roast chicken with a carving knife stuck promisingly in its perfect golden breast) only to fail to deliver in the mouth. That chicken, for example, was dull and bland. The place is busy, so it must be doing something right - but not for us that lunchtime.
We went back here again because it was very good last year. This time it was better and I would go far to say it was perfect. The service and the food was sublime! We shared both the crab in mango sauce and the Buffalo mozzarella starters followed by the perfectly seared tuna and the wonderfully presented and delicious Ile flottante for desert. The bottle of white wine from Domaine Mirabel at Brouzet les Quissac (which is close by and just about in the Pic Saint Loup area) was wonderful! Thanks again to the chef and lovely serving team at the Comptoir de l'Evesque.
We were on a work trip with no car (being given lifts when necessary). We could walk from our hotel to Le Comptoir so it was perfect. We ended up dining there every night plus guests we wanted to entertain. The lobster bisque was my favourite and the pigeon was well presented and very tasty indeed. The service was delightfully friendly in spite of the restaurant being extremely busy.
Simply...Wow!The ambience of this restaurant is great, and is created by the customers. Weather permitting, you are seated outdoors in a beautiful garden. Not being too fluent in French, the owner of the restaurant spent a considerable amount of time with us recommending dishes we may enjoy. All the food was fresh. The vegetables used are grown in the restaurant garden.Every single dish was amazing! The presentation was to please, the taste was to perfection, and the bill was ideal!2 Starters2 Mains2 DesertsSoft Drinks (No alcohol)€65 - Value for MoneyThis was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had!
I first visited this restaurant 10 years ago when it had a different name and presumably different proprietors so I was keen to visit again.Whilst my previous visit was good this was a major improvement in both improved elegance of the dining room and terrace and more particularly the food. Very good all round. We sat out on the terrace and my one small criticism was the state of the swimming pool nearby. I badly needed cleaning!
