Embers Grill & Smokehouse

We had a conference in SOO and decided to try some of the local restaurants. We decided to try the Embers Grill & Smokehouse and it turned out to be a great choice! it's a really nice place for enjoyable dinner with friends and colleagues. Both food and the service were excellent. Definitely worth visiting! :)

A group of eight of us were given a private room upstairs which was a good idea since we were rather loud! The food was fabulous, the meatloaf in particular. Great wines and wonderful service. Another great find in the Soo.

My wife and I visited Embers Grill & Smokehouse a few days after Valentine's Day in February. It is our second visit in the last year and it was excellent as was the first time. The presentation of their food is always appealing, the flavours are unique, and the service is great. My wife has a few food allergies and our server paid particular attention to detail regarding her allergies, discussing my wife's order with the chef prior to preparing our order. This is often lacking in some restaurants. Embers is a nice quaint restaurant with a nice atmosphere creating a great dinning experience.

My wife and I ate dinner here on Monday evening, partly because they receive decent reviews on TA and partly because there weren't many restaurants open on a Monday night. We decided to forego the special (kangaroo) and opted for steaks instead. My wife chose the hangar steak which was delicious and soft as butter. I decided to have the rib steak. There was a warning in the menu to be patient as all meals are freshly prepared but the wait really wasn't long at all or didn't seem like it as our server came by regularly to check on our drinks.When my steak arrived, I had some difficulty cutting it but when I put the piece in my mouth, it was actually very tender. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT; you may want to check your steak knives as they may be giving your steaks the undeserved appearance of toughness.Both of our dinners were delicious and perfectly cooked (medium rare) and dessert and coffee very good as well. They also have an ample wine list and fully stocked bar.Our food and the service provided were both excellent but I gave a very good rating because the venue and atmosphere just didn't seem to be in line with the cost one would associate with an upscale dining experience.
