The Ivy - Saskatoon

Unfortunately they closed their doors. This place was excellent for the quality of food and the unique items.

Based on the reviews we decided to try out the Ivy restaurant. Having eaten there several years ago was expecting something different. The service was appalling. Took over an hour to get the main course. The only wine available was the house wine, as something happened to all the other wines they apparently had- the house wine was the highlight of the entire meal! Of about 10 appetizers listed on the menu, they only had 4 available. We ordered steak and salmon both with mashed potatoes. We got risotto instead of the potatoes. The steak was not cooked as ordered and looked like it had been reheated. The salmon with lemon, herbs and capers looked and tasted like it came out of a box, without the lemon or capers. When paying over $30 for a main, the service and quality of the food should match the price! This was a disappointment and we will never eat there again! Save your money and eat somewhere else!

Surf and Turf - steak perfect(med rare) and crab legs cut in half for us. Seafood pasta was yummy with lots of large scallops, shrimp and mussels still in the shell. Wild salmon cooked without sauces and just seasoned perfect. Small delay with meal but was explained with apology and free dessert. Also free cocktails. The staff were very personable.My fiancee was happy with dress code as he only had a dress shirt with jeans. Prices as expected. Recommend reservations as it is small.

Wanted a good place for a quiet romantic dinner. Recommended by my kids ww tried and we liked. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Food was good, not great but definitely not bad. Pricey but a nice change to the big establishments. Looking for a gem, check this out. Ask for Jason - great waiter!

So my cousin and a friend of her's went to the Ivy to have supper. They work together on a number of community service projects and wanted to talk over some details over supper. They were approached by the waitress who poured them water and asked about their relationship, to which they answered friends. The waitress then stepped away (I'm guessing to discuss with a manager) . When she returned she told my cousin and her friend that they were being refused service. Her assumption that there was something untowards in a friendship between a 50 year old gentleman and a 20 year old young lady. Boycotting this place and spreading the word.
