Sitting at the table there was no music playing and it seemed like the super open floor plan allowed for almost no privacy. We just felt out of place and maybe needed some soft background music playing. As for the dinner I would expect a resteraunt that has been in business this long to at least make there own coleslaw. It was the regular Sysco brand straight out of the box. Also I'm kind of being a stickler about this but when I go to a resteraunt and they have the glass ketchup bottles, you know the ones where you have to pound on the bottom to get the ketchup out, I hate these. They are a breeding ground for bacteria under the cap and because the bottles are not washed and just constantly refilled. Take some pride and do some minor upgrades. As for the other people that say it's pricy, it's not too bad I had the one piece halibut dinner for about $15 and the two piece dinner was about $25. Don't get me wrong the fish was awesome just didn't like the overall atmosphere.
I have never felt such discrmination before in my life. I am a native woman and my husband is a caucasion man. We went to the Wharf restaurant on Saturday October 8th 2016 to supposedly have a nice dinner. A young blond pony tailed waitress met us when we went in. I do not know her name but she was in her 20's about. She immediately started talking to only my husband and avoiding looking at me or talking to me. This was really obvious to me. She led us to a table of my husband's choice. She then said to him a waitress would be over to take his order. His order? I thought I was imagining her snobbery towards me so went ahead with ordering with my husband with the waitress who was really nice towards both of us unlike the other. I honestly can say I have never been treated so coldly before by anyone, When we were leaving my husband was ahead of me and this young blond pony tailed waitress in her 20's said to him have a nice evening. When I got up to her she did not say a word. Not a word. When I reached my husband at the till I looked back towards her and she was laughing and another dark haired waitress had a smirk on her face. I feel these 2 had a private joke on me the old native woman who should have stayed on the reserve. I left feeling slighted and very angry. I and my husband who I talked to about this will never return to The Wharf Restaurant in Sarnia Ontario again due to ignorance and discrimination towards natives.
Back when I was a child I remember going to the Wharf in the Zellers plaza, cramming into a small restaurant, and loving every minute of the experience. The Wharf has moved around in the last decade and landed in a great location. Even though the staff may have changed the food has not. Two piece fish and chips are to die for. We make this a monthly stop.
I had some fantastic Haddock Crispies with chips (fries)...it was delightful. The waitress was wonderfull and very attentive. I highly recommend.
As always the Wharf served up an outstanding traditional fish and chips fine feast. Been eating there off and on over 40 years and have never been disappointed. Keep up the fine tradition for years to come
