Paramo Cafe - Sarasota

The staff were extremely accommodating of my vegan dietary preferences. They prepared a delicious arepa with grilled vegetables and sliced avocado for me. The coffee with plant-based milk was fantastic. I look forward to returning to try out the dinner menu.

My partner and I visited this restaurant because we found it on HappyCow. The menu mainly consists of plantains and yucca fries. Other options all include meat, cheese, or both.

Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the Yoko-Fries. I also ordered an arepa, plantains, and cheese. Please note that this may not be vegetarian, so be sure to ask the staff.

We used to order from this restaurant frequently, but over the past couple of years, the portions have gotten smaller and the quality has declined. During my last visit, the server had difficulty understanding my order. I requested plantains instead of rice with my meal, but still received rice as well as a small side of plantains for $6. I also inquired about the fried green plantains platter, but the server seemed unfamiliar with it, even though it was clearly listed on the menu. I eventually gave up on that order. When I went to pick up my food, I tried to move out of the way for a server in the crowded space near the cash register, but when she turned around, she rudely asked me to excuse her. I felt unwelcome and like an inconvenience. Normally, I am a generous tipper, but on this occasion, I chose not to leave a tip due to the poor service and lack of effort to get my order right. The portions and quality of the food did not justify the prices. It's unfortunate because this used to be a good restaurant, but it seems like there may be an issue with the staff. This experience led us to no longer patronize the restaurant.

Looks like a Starbucks with candles. I was parched and asked for water upon being given a menu and waited ten minutes when another table of two arrived and the server got them drinks but never got me anything and didn’t even look at me. I have to assume the food is as good as the service at that point. I left after waiting over ten minutes for nothing. There was a total of 6 people dining in this restaurant
