Note: I'm changing my review for the restaurant actually called Museo de Gastronomia Dominicana' from one to three stars. After my trip to the center of the country for two weeks I returned to Santo Domingo for an additional two days. Thus I returned to this restaurant in order to attempt to remedy. Nicole, a waitress who speaks some English assisted me and was wonderful. Manager Jose Martinez then assisted, saw the major error and corrected the problem with a refund of the OVER charge. I have decided to keep the original review as well, since it describes other areas of my experience. I hope that they do talk with the 50 something waiter who brought my bill and would not discuss its error. My initial review written on July 20, 2019. - A guide, Jesus, who was very genuinely friendly, brought me to this restaurant. The service was good, though I requested butter twice and never received it. The the food adequate, though the steak was pretty tough. What gives it a One' Star is their DISHONEST bill. On the menu the steak that I ordered was $13. La cuenta came to $1,600 DM Pesos or $33 US. Along with the dinner I purchased one Presidente beer for the guide (I had offered to buy his dinner, but he said that it was too early) and a limonada con mineral for me. I thought that these might be a couple dollars each. When asked, the waiter said four dollars each. Even with that plus the tax, I was overcharged $7 US or $350 pesos. When questioned, the waiter just stared. A very sad way to start my first in the Dominican Republic. I have been to several Latin America countries, many, many times and this was a terrible experience! I SELDOM write poor reviews, but dishonesty absolutely calls for one. Just beware!
