Returned this year and was disappointed felt they'd lost their way a little and didn't have the enthusiasm and service ethos...that we had previously experienced. We'll visit again next year we're hoping they've got their mojo back.
Visited with my girlfriend about 20.30 on a Friday night after we'd checked into our hotel. We quickly scanned TA to see what was available and this place came up... Hosts spoke English, which was very helpful. Food was great: I had a Small Steak...and she had Carbonara. Both very tasty, and steak was cooked in a lovely sauce. Both had some home made cake afterwards, also great. Having both guessed the bill, it came under what we were expecting by about €8! Definitely going back later in our holiday.

You will find this place in the highland village of Santo da Serra, just adjacent to the weekend market square. Plenty of parking next to the building. They have a sister restaurant 100m to the north (same menu). We prefere "A Nossa Aldeia". Specialities are the large Madeira skewers with meat and portions of your choice. We had beef which was excellent. With sides of polenta squares, vegetables and wine we ended up below 30€.
We had one beef meat 500 gram together, salat, chips good wine all for € 30. You should go. It is worth it.
