Tacos del 57 - Santiago de Querétaro

There are actually two of these places: this one is further west and quieter, and make the blue corn tortillas on the spot for your taco. Extensive menu with many fillings and many versions of grilled corn flour to put them in. You eat them...as they are prepared, since the tacos will tend to fall apart if they get soaked by the ingredients. Great place, very busy no alcohol served here. The other place is newer, further east, on Calle de 16 Septiembre, close to the Jardin Zenea. This place serves alcohol specifically, they have a list of about 100 beers from all over the world, many I had never seen. They do not serve the blue corn tacos, but they also have an extensive menu. Less family friendly, more sports bar-like. Food was good here too.

This used to be very good food before, when the owner was the cook and in charge of the place when she was a poor woman. You can guess the end of this story, she was an excellent cook then got successful and rich, passed...over the cooking, the service and the whole business to others, including the running of the place to her lazy son who knows nothing about customer service in a restaurant, and surprise surprise the place is mediocre now and the food not very hygienic. The waitresses are nice but that is not enough, many people I know have gotten sick after having dinner here, including myself. So, sad end of the story but avoid diarrhoea and don't go.

Tacos del 57 offers a wide range of tacos, including some with stew. they also have a few special days (which we tried to visit our visit). I can't talk much about the quality of tacos del 57.

Stopped in for some great tacos, at the recommendation of our hotel manager ... delicious ... and cheap ! And after tacos, we walked next door to their cantina for some adult beverages !
