Farmhouse 78 - Santa Ysabel

We came here around 11 a.m. and got seated right away. I ordered chicken tender with kale slaw and French fries. They?re all pretty tasty. The fish and chips were great as well. They also have apple cider and apple pie for dessert. I really like the southern style decorations. There are plenty of parking spots. A great place to visit.

I?ve eaten at a bunch of places in Julian, I expect the long wait and slow service but this place was good to go. We figured since it was on the outskirts it would be less busy and we were right. Greeted and seated immediately by friendly people. As everyone else said, big, bright and clean. Everyone was super friendly and drinks and food came fast. Now let?s talk food. Ordered the onion rings and Aussie fries for an appetizer. Guy at the table next to us said the rings were excellent. Rings came out first and were gone in a minute. Aussie fries were next and they took us back to the Del Mar fair. So good. I got the Reuben and baked potato salad. Great sandwich and the salad was good but I liked my son?s French fries better. Wife got the grilled cheese with brisket and she ate it all. My daughter got the crack chicken tacos which were spicy for her but the pickled vegetables and sweet kale salad on it balanced it out, we all loved it and despite other reviews, there were two big pieces of chicken on there. My son had the wagyu and wild boar burger medium rare, it was cooked correctly. It was excellent and we surprised our 11 year old liked it with the kale apple slaw. We over ordered and took home a lot of leftovers but it was worth it. We will be back for more. Thank you.

I noticed that everyone else got greeting muffins, but I never received one. The water refill was also absent; I had to ask for it. Additionally, I had to request the check and then follow up again to pay it. They definitely need to hire more waitstaff. On a positive note, the food was excellent! I had the frittata and breakfast tacos, and I would definitely eat there again.

The clam chowder was excellent, with chunks of clams in every bite—definitely a find, as we're always on the lookout for great chowder. They serve it daily, along with a tomato basil soup. The ribeye steak was massive, certainly enough to satisfy two people, if not three! The menu indicates a serving size of 14-16 ounces, and the portions were generous, which made sharing easy and enjoyable. They have three separate menus based on meal times—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While some items overlap, there is a delightful variety to choose from. We plan to return, and I highly recommend stopping by Farmhouse 78 if you’re in the area—you won't be disappointed!

We decided to elope and chose this restaurant for a small family dinner. Cathi and her team did an outstanding job. The servers provided excellent customer service, but the food was on another level. I was truly impressed by the incredible flavors and quality, and my family felt the same way. Everyone complimented the food and asked how I found this place. We're planning to return soon for lunch together. A big thank you to Farmhouse 78 for the delightful apple spice cake, and special thanks to the two fantastic servers who took care of us.
