Went for lunch today. I ordered the combination bowl and it was delicious. This was my first time eating Vietnamese food and I loved it. It was fresh and seasoned to perfection.
Good food with friendly and fast service. The building looms like it could use a little tlc but overall a great spot to grab some pho...
Saigon (Crawfish Alley) was Tommy's and is in the process of absorbing new part ownership while still being managed by the original owner of Tommy's. Simple spot with all the typical fare you'd expect of a Vietnamese menu. The only spot I know of that serves Bahn mi sandwiches. Strangely they weren't on the menu that I saw, but you can just ask. Pho was pricier than most places by a couple bucks and I didn't try it, but went with stir fried Japanese noodles with jumbo shrimp. It was a large portion and the shrimp were big and juicy. The roast pork Bahn mi was pretty standard. The biggest charm of the place though was certainly it's half owner (the original one), Thui. That lady has loads of personality and spent a good deal of time chatting with us at out table. It was a very warm and inviting feeling and I enjoyed the personal touch that she brought to the experience. She recommended a particular hot sauce for the noodles and insisted that the Bahn mi would be no good as takeout and that if we get one, we would be much better off eating it before the noodles. I'll definitely be going back to try more things from the menu.
Good food here. There are two go-tos when we eat out here. One is the combo noodle bowl. Can be a little spicy but it has nice flavors and mix of juicy meat as well as fresh vegetables. The noodles are always on par and pretty large portions. Our second meal we order here a lot is the pho. Pho while being simple is not easy to find (good pho) here on the Central Coast. The broth is on par and good ingredients. The most important part is the noodles and are delicious and cooked right. Inside it’s very big and don’t always see a lot of people. May be the times we go there. If they can bing in a few more people and up their service game they have our business in there future. Go Pho!
