Coucou Bar Restaurant Bantayan Island

The restaurant experience left much to be desired. The service was not only slow but also rude. While the pizza was enjoyable, the buffalo wings fell short—offering only three pieces felt more like a joke than a serving. Although the ambiance of the place was pleasant, that was where the positives ended. I ordered a drink that tasted nice at first, but when I set it down on the uneven, woven straw table surface, it tipped over. When I requested a replacement, I was surprised to find they charged me for it, despite the table design playing a role in the mishap. This seemed unfair and only added to my frustration. Overall, the food didn’t impress, and the poor service detracted from the experience. I noticed other customers appearing just as frustrated. I came here based on a recommendation but left feeling disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re specifically craving tuna on your pizza.

The Google Maps photo seems to be quite outdated (or perhaps just a really good shot). The front of the hotel now features a bar/restaurant, so the garden from the photo has been reduced to about 10 meters deep. Nevertheless, it's a nice place! It has some of the cleanest restrooms I've seen in the Philippines, and the rooms are also well-maintained and tidy. Just keep in mind that there’s a bar in front if you choose to stay here. The bar/restaurant is decent, though some meals and drinks may not be available—that's pretty typical in the Philippines. The restaurant tends to attract a lot of foreign visitors, but it seems like no one is really interested in socializing, so it's not the best place if you're looking to connect with others. Overall, the food is quite good, but expect a wait—if your food doesn't arrive in 20 minutes, be prepared to wait another 20! You won't be disappointed by your visit. However, it looks like they might not have the resources to print new menus, as there’s a lot of tape indicating price changes.

The rooms are nice, the location is great, and the food is good. However, there’s a significant issue: the staff's indifference. When they're not ignoring the customers, they seem to be preoccupied with their own conversations, often doing both at the same time! Honestly, they need a complete overhaul. During my nearly week-long stay last year, they never acknowledged me as a guest. There were no smiles, no friendliness; it was a completely unwelcoming atmosphere. I'm planning to return to Bantayan soon, but I will definitely be staying somewhere else this time.

We had dinner here and it was a disappointing experience overall. When we arrived, no one greeted us and the waitreses were all on their own worlds, until only one approached us after a few minutes of awkwardly standing. The wait for our food took over an hour and although the food was actually good, the service eclipsed the what could have been a potentially very good dining experience. Note that there were only two of us dining and we only got pizza and pasta. I'm not sure if they were simply understaffed or the management just needed more training on customer service but I urge them to please take action and improve this. The location was great and the ambiance was what hooked us in. However, if you're looking to eat here, please look elsewhere to save yourself the trouble (and hunger).
