Originally located in Tanah Merah by the sea, the new eatery now located in Bandar Utama aka Mile 6 or IJM serves up well-prepared seafood dishes. Famous for banquet-style dishes in a homey setting (which Sandakan is known for , it executes its dishes admirably. Popular dishes are their steamed fish (usually garoupa sek pan , sang har mee , butter chicken, kam heong crabs and the wat tan eggy clams. But they also prepare other typical zhi char dishes, including sweet and sour pork and fried noodles. All of them are done skillfully, and there is a respectable amount of wok hei and a good balance of flavours which outclasses most of the shops around. Another thing that separates the food from the other shops which serve similar dishes is that they use fragrant rice to accompany the dishes, as opposed to the cheap generic variety. The rice by itself has the natural sweetness that could enhance a simple dish of steamed prawns. However, what must be noted is their heavy use of MSG. No doubt this has helped to boost the taste of the dishes, but each time I 've visited this place, the sheer amount used leaves me chugging water for the rest of the evening. Prices are quite high for local standards and only marginally lower than the air-conditioned restaurants around Sandakan like Ocean King and Heng Loong, although not astronomical given the quality and freshness of their seafood. It can get crowded during the evenings for dinner, especially on weekends. Worth going to if you can brave the MSG (or you request for them to reduce it .

We arrived at 7pm and the place was still empty. We were hesitate to enter this restaurant. But, at the end we decided to have a try. After we ordered, customers were coming one after another. The food is not too bad n also not as delicious as we expected. Just good n like home cook dished. Among the 5 dishes, i would give a thumb up for the Sapak soup. P/s: need to pay GST. :
